Khan Academy is a non-profit organization with the goal of changing education for the better by providing a free world-class education for anyone anywhere. Khan Academy a global learning platform established in the United States, offers educational resources and videos that are available to anyone, anywhere. It doesn’t matter if you are a student, teacher, home-schooler, principal, scholar or an adult returning to the classroom after 20 years; Khan Academy’s learning materials are available to you completely free of charge.
To celebrate STFA’s 75th Anniversary, Khan Academy TR was founded as a social responsibility project to support modern and world-class education in Turkish. Khan Academy is recognized as the world’s largest free online learning platform, being translated to 36 languages today. As the very first international initiative of the platform, Khan Academy TR is supported by an STFA foundation, Bilimsel ve Teknik Yayınları Çeviri Vakfı (The Foundation for Translation of Scientific and Technical Publications) which was founded in 1992 to support education in Turkish. The foundation has been translating Khan Academy videos, website and all learning materials with an aim to strengthen equal opportunities for all in Turkish education and to reach all Turkish speaking peoples of the world.
While more than 7000 Khan Academy videos have been dubbed in Turkish, Khan Academy TR also offers an option for subtitles for the hearing-impaired. Having delivered over 60 million online lessons, Khan Academy TR became an important stakeholder in Turkish education reform. Today, available in every classroom in Turkey, Khan Academy TR does not only support formal education in schools but also supports lifelong learning for everyone with the motto “You only have to know one thing: You can learn anything!”.
